Spring 2023. Axminster & District Choral Society C.P.E Bach Matthäus-Passion 1789 (first UK performance and first European performance since 1789).
A slice of musical history was delivered in Axminster on Saturday 1st April 2023, when as part of their Spring concert, the Axminster and District Choral Society performed the St. Matthew Passion by C.P.E. Bach, son of J.S. Bach.

Autumn 2022 concert review.
Fauré Requiem and other works by Fauré and Franck.
For the first half of its Autumn concert the ADCS chose Gabriel Fauré's beautiful Requiem, with its subtle harmonies and flowing vocal and instrumental lines. This could hardly have been a greater contrast to its summer concert performance of Mendelssohn's "Elijah", with its loud and clamorous choruses, requiring some powerful singing.

Elijah by Felix Mendelssohn, 1809 –1847.
After a miserable two and a half years of uncertainty, worry and frustration for choirs during the pandemic, the ADCS came storming back with their powerful performance of this most dramatic and demanding work which is certainly not for the faint-hearted!
